Age-Rating: R (graphic and mature scenes)

Adapted from the 2011 novel "The Devil All The Time", written by author Donald Ray Pollock, the story follows a young man, Arvin, through his death-plagued life. Forced to face a town full of corruption and sinister characters, Arvin does all he can to protect his loved ones.

“It seemed to his son that his father was fighting the devil all the time.”

My Review

Featuring an all-star cast, the portrayal of each character was phenomenal. From Tom Holland's Arvin, to Bill Skarsgård's Willard, the audience is given a great depiction of the true tragedy and misfortune that was the characters' lives. Following along with the characters, we are given quite an entertaining story. It keeps it's audience on the edge of their seats, not knowing what's to come next. Every second of the story is filled with devastation and thrill. The story itself is so dark and gritty, with each separate story joining to paint the atmosphere that Pollock had originally intended. The mixing of each individual tale makes for a compelling story that is very entertaining to watch. However, my main issue while watching the movie was the graphic and grotesque scenes. Although, going into the film, the audience is given a warning of it's explicit storyline, it was a lot more than I was expecting. Thus, I give you a warning - if you do intend to watch it, make sure you have a strong stomach.
