It's the 1940s in South Carolina when mill worker Noah Calhoun and rich girl Allie Hamilton fall desperately in love. But her parents don't approve. When Noah goes off to serve in World War II, it seems to mark the end of their love affair. In the interim, Allie becomes involved with another man. But when Noah returns to their small town years later, on the cusp of Allie's marriage, it soon becomes clear that their romance was never over.

“I think our love can do anything we want it to.”

My Review

Although not a great fan of romantic movies, I surprised myself with this movie! I went into this movie with the misconception of thinking this was just another typical romantic movie, but I was very impressed by this film and the themes portrayed in this movie were handled in a great way. The Notebook managed to keep me enthralled and fascinated until the end, and touched my heart so deeply. It really speaks about love in a way that most romantic movies miss by speaking in cliché or by over adding in numerous complications to dramatize things. And, the vivid chemistry between the actors, Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, allows you to shift from reality to the magic of love. So even if you, like me, aren't a huge fan of romantic movies, I say you give this movie a chance.
