Starting a new job as a retired man is a difficult challenge, and is taken up by Ben Whittaker. The 70-year-old widower is looking to get back into the game, and seizes the opportunity to become a senior intern at an online fashion site. Ben soon becomes popular with his younger co-workers, including Jules Ostin, the boss and founder of the company. Ben's charm and wisdom help him develop a special bond and friendship with Jules.

“Retirement is an ongoing, relentless effort in creativity. You can try yoga, like to cook, bought some plants, took classes in Mandarin. Believe me, I've tried everything. I just know there's a hole in my life and I need to fill it... soon.”

My Review

The movie was wholesome, in fact, probably one of the most wholesome-est movies I have ever seen. The warmth of the atmosphere mixed in with the sheer sweetness of the two lead characters kept a smile on my face throughout the entire duration of the movie. It’s not extremely dramatic or heavy, which is precisely what I was in need for when I watched it. But there are a few moments that might make you tear-up, as it did me. That made it the perfect blend of sweet and sad. This film is best described as fluff with a bit of depth. It’s adorable and hopeful, but it’s also funny and clever. Another aspect that ranked the movie higher in my list was it's overall message. It talks about the challenges that young people face, and their way of dealing with it. Plus, with the wisdom and advice of the elderly, how they can overcome said challenges. These messages where presented beautifully by the excellent cast of Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro. The two are the platonic pairing I never knew I needed! Thus, this movie is recommended to anyone who needs a short and sweet pick-me-up.
